Fishing for King salmon is regarded by many to be the ultimate angling experience, and Sitka Sound is home to Alaska’s largest recreational King salmon fishery. We cannot promise you will catch a King, but the odds for the mid-May through late-August timeframe are very very good. Silver salmon, legendary for their fight and aerial displays, are also abundant in our area, and we catch a lot of them from mid-June through September. Catch rates for both King and Silver salmon are three times higher than anywhere else in the region.
Once you hit your limit for salmon, you may want to fish for Pacific halibut. From early-June through September, the fishing for these giants is among the best in the world. We primarily fish for halibut in the 50–150-pound range, but it is possible to reel-in fish as large as 400 pounds. Your guide will know the best spots to fish for halibut, lingcod and pelagic rockfish, and will be ready with tips and to lend a hand when you get an especially big one on the line.
Of course, it won’t just be great memories you’ll be savoring after returning home. Latitude 57’s dedicated team of in-house fish processors take great pride in cleaning, cutting, freezing and packaging your catch to ensure you will be enjoying spectacular dining get-togethers with family & friends for weeks to come.
